EmaraTax is run by the Federal Tax Authority, and its screens and login options change from time to time. This guide covers the most common problems as of October 2026. For account-specific issues only the FTA can help — use the contact options on tax.gov.ae.
EmaraTax is the Federal Tax Authority’s online portal for VAT, corporate tax and excise tax in the UAE — registrations, returns, payments, refunds and correspondence all happen there. Many people search for it as “eTax UAE”. When the login doesn’t work close to a filing deadline it is stressful, so here are the problems we see most often and how to fix them.
The official address is eservices.tax.gov.ae (linked from tax.gov.ae). Always type it yourself rather than following links in emails or messages — fake “FTA” login pages are a common phishing trick.
The FTA has made UAE Pass the main way to sign in to EmaraTax. If the UAE Pass screen keeps returning you to the start:
You logged in, but you can’t see your company. This usually means the EmaraTax user you signed in with is not the one linked to the business. Common causes: the company was registered under a colleague’s or former accountant’s email, or your UAE Pass is linked to a different EmaraTax user. The account owner can add you as a user, or you can ask the FTA to update the authorised signatory.
Accounts from the old FTA e-services portal were moved to EmaraTax, and many users had to reset their password on first use. Use Forgot password on the login page; the reset link goes to the registered email. If you no longer have that email, recovery can use the registered mobile number — otherwise you will need the FTA to update your contact details.
Several wrong passwords lock the account temporarily. Wait before trying again, then reset the password instead of guessing. Signing in with UAE Pass avoids password lockouts entirely.
EmaraTax logs you out after a period of inactivity, and unsaved work can be lost. Prepare your figures before you open the return — ideally with the VAT or corporate tax numbers already calculated in your accounting system — and use Save as draft as you go.
ETaxFlow calculates your VAT 201 and corporate tax figures from your books, so filing on EmaraTax takes minutes, not an afternoon.
If you manage several businesses (or you are a tax agent), each taxable person appears as a separate tile. Corporate tax and VAT are separate registrations with separate TRNs — make sure you open the right one before starting a return or payment.
Card payments can fail because of bank limits or 3-D Secure timeouts. Try again with a different card, or pay by bank transfer using the payment reference (GIBAN) shown in EmaraTax. Payments are only credited against the correct reference, so copy it exactly.
For account access, linked users or contact-detail changes, only the FTA can fix the record. Use the contact options on tax.gov.ae, and keep screenshots of the error messages. If a deadline is at risk because of a portal problem, record the date and time you tried — it helps if you later ask for a penalty to be reconsidered.
Log in to EmaraTax a few days before each VAT and corporate tax deadline to check your access works. Our guides on filing VAT on EmaraTax and the VAT 201 return walk through the filing itself, and the free UAE VAT calculator helps you check figures quickly.
The official EmaraTax portal is eservices.tax.gov.ae, linked from the Federal Tax Authority website tax.gov.ae. Type the address yourself and avoid login links in emails or messages.
Yes. UAE Pass is the main way to sign in to EmaraTax. Your UAE Pass account must be verified with your Emirates ID; basic accounts cannot access most government services.
The EmaraTax user you signed in with is probably not the one linked to the business. The current account owner can add you as a user, or the FTA can update the authorised signatory.
Check that the registered mobile number and email on the EmaraTax account are current, look in spam, and wait a few minutes before resending. If the registered details are out of date, the FTA has to update them.
People often search for the FTA portal as 'eTax UAE'. The official portal for VAT, corporate tax and excise tax is called EmaraTax.
Reset your password with Forgot password or sign in with UAE Pass. If the account details themselves need changing, contact the Federal Tax Authority through tax.gov.ae.
